"To go in the dark with a light is to know the light. To know the dark, go dark. Go without sight, and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings, and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings."
-Wendell Berry
Happy Winter Solstice! Today is the shortest day with the least amount of light. It is a day to pause, reflect, and contemplate. It is the opportunity to feel into the darkness and discover that we do not need to be afraid, or if we are, that we can take a deep breath and know that we have capacity to feel what's there. We are invited to let go of the manufactured busy-ness of the season and slow down. Below is a ritual and meditation you can do to honor the past year and invite in the new year. If you don't have time to do it today, no worries, just come back to it before January 1st.
To prepare for the meditation please find a quiet space. Have a candle, lighter, a metal or ceramic bowl with water, a pen, and paper.
With love and gratitude,
Kerri
